Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering Summary: The relationship between architecture and nature, for the last 500 years or so, has been one of juxtaposition. Throughout history, architects have looked to nature for inspiration for building forms, and approaches to decoration, dealing with nature as something not simply to incorporate into architecture, but as an inspired model for building design. By delving more deeply to nature, through studying of translating adaptations in biology into solutions in architecture, architects were put on the way of Biomimicry; a new discipline that studies nature's best ideas and then imitates these designs and processes to solve human problems. This thesis was codified for discussing the importance of biomimicry solutions for more accessible architecture, identifying the main three kinds of biomimicry levels focusing on biommicry behavior level mimicking projects (case studies of discussion) and its relationship with the indoor air quality and the energy consumption, proving finally that by achieving each mimicking level in a building, we get the double of financial savings, energy consumption rate, and the maximum level of indoor air quality percentage
