Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electrical Power and Machines Summary: In this thesis, the position control of hydraulic systems is studied and investigated. A simulation model and experimental hardware of hydraulic servo system have been implemented to give an acceptable closed loop control system. This control system needs; for example, a conventional controller or fractional order controller to make a hydraulic system stable with acceptable steady state error. The utilized optimization techniques for tuning the proposed controllers are of EC type such as; PSO, AWPSO and GA. The fractional order controller is utilized to achieve position control of HSS and it achieves better results such as good time performance (settling time, overshoot) compared with classical controller due to the nonlinearities of the system

In this thesis, the position control of hydraulic systems is studied and investigated.
