Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communication Summary: This work is devoted to fractional order systems in analog circuit design. A general procedure for allocating the system poles and hence controlling the system stability for engineering applications is discussed. Two di{uFB00}er - ent transfer functions are introduced for the fractional LTI system with two di{uFB00}erent fractional order elements. The stability results are used to design fractional - order systems like {uFB01}lters and oscillators. In fractional order {uFB01}lters, the critical frequency points like the half power frequency, the maximum and minimum frequency and the right phase frequency points become func- tions of the fractional orders besides the transfer function parameters which adds extra degrees of freedom in the {uFB01}lter design. A general procedure to obtain butterworth {uFB01}lter speci{uFB01}cations in the fractional-order domain where an in{uFB01}nite number of relationships could be obtained due to the extra indepen - dent fractional-order parameters which increase the {uFB01}lter degrees - of - freedom
