Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of Statistical Studies and Research - Department of Mathematical Statistics Summary: An important problem in statistics is to obtain information about the form of the population from which a sample is drawn. Goodness of fit test is applied to determine how well the observed sample data fits some proposed model. One class of goodness of fit tests that can be used consists of tests based on the distance between the empirical and the hypothesized distribution functions. Ranked set sampling proposed by mcIntyre (1952) is a useful sampling technique alternative to simple random sampling that has been receiving considerable attention in the statistics literature. Through the last two decades, the goodness of fit tests based on data collected via ranked set sampling techniques and its modifications have taken little attention of the authors. Therefore, the main aim of this thesis is to create tables of critical values of some proposed goodness of fit test statistics for Weibull distribution based on simple random sample and moving extreme ranked set sample. Based on two types of moving extreme ranked set sample, parameters of the Weibull distribution are estimated using the method of maximum likelihood. Tables of critical values are obtained for the weibull distribution with unknown parameters under simple random sample as well as the two types of moving extreme ranked set sample
