Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Clinical and Chemical Pathology Summary: Background: AML is a heterogeneous disease in clinical character and molecular genetics, we can detect many kinds of abnormal expression of genes. Among them, meningioma 1 (MN1) high expression and phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) low expression are thought to be correlative with incidence of leukemia. Aim of the study: The aim of this study is to determine the expression and prognostic impact of MN1 and PTEN mRNA in AML cells by Real time Reverse Transcription-PCR and to correlate the their expression with other clinical and laboratory prognostic factors
