Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - National Institute of Laser Enhanced Science - Department of Laser Applications in Medical and Biological Summary: This work aimed to consider the hazardous effect of Q- switched Nd - YAG laser on the vitreous humor and on the structure of the retina. In addition to evaluate the protective role of vitamin C against photo-disruption. Rabbits eyes were exposed to vitreous humor liquefaction with laser using two different energy protocols (5mJ x 100pulse and 10mJ x 50pulse) with and without vitamin c administration. The rabbits were divided into 5 groups and after 2 weeks of laser treatment they were decapitated, Eyes were enculated for determination of protein content, refractive index, viscosity, moreover the retina was subjected to histological examination
