Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Summary: Different methods for determination of some oral hypoglycemic drugs have been introduced in this thesis. These drugs are alogliptin benzoate, linagliptin, metformin hydrochloride, saxagliptin hydrochloride, sitagliptin phosphate, and vildagliptin. Chromatographic part included determination of sitagliptin phosphate in bulk and in plasma using fluorimetric detection in the presence of sitagliptin acid degradation product after its preparation and structure elucidation and in its ternay mixture with metformin hydrochloride and sitagliptin acid degradation product using ultraviolet detection. Besides, simultaneous determination of each of three novel gliptins; sitagliptin phosphate, vildagliptin, saxagliptin hydrochloride and metformin hydrochloride in the presence of metformin impurity (cyanoguanidine) was developed. And determination of linagliptin using ultraviolet detection and fluorimetric detection was also developed. Simultaneous determination of linagliptin and metformin hydrochloride and determination of alogliptin benzoate using ultraviolet detection was also developed. Spectroscopic part, included the spectrofluorimetric determination of linagliptin in bulk and in dosage form. Besides, spectrophotometric determination of linagliptin in its binary mixture with metformin hydrochloride using zero order and first derivative methods was developed. Statistical comparison between the results obtained by the proposed methods and the reference methods was carried out
