Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Radio-diagnosis Summary: LAM is a rare idiopathic multi-system disorder almost exclusively found in women of child - bearing age. It mainly affects the lungs, promoting cystic destruction. Progressive dyspnea is the most common symptom, fatigue, dry cough and chest pain, are also common presentations. HRCT provides us with detailed informations on the presence, anatomical distribution, and characteristics of a variety of diffuse lung processes witch is more sensitive than chest radiography. Using HRCT we were able to detect the characteristics of LAM and to differentiate it from other cystic lung disorder. The most characteristic HRCT findings of the disease was multiple thin-walled cysts uniformly distributed in both lungs
