Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Power Engineering
This master thesis assesses the potential of solar heat for industrial processes in Jordan. The technical potential was estimated to be 556 GWh per annum, equivalent to 7.8 % of the total thermal energy consumed in the industrial sector in 2012. Based on the top down approach, heat demand has been estimated related to extrapolated results of energy consumption survey in the industrial sector. In bottom up approach, seventeen industrial companies have been assessed using technical questionnaire and through site visits. Moreover, technical and economical assessments have been conducted for 1 MWth linear Fresnel case study. The system generates 1846.9 MWhth in north-south orientation and 1620.8 MWhth in east-west orientation
