Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Summary: This section includes a survey concerning the anticancer activities of synthesized and naturally occurring chromenes according to their different mechanisms of actions. In addition, the biosynthetic pathway of chromenes is also cited. This part is interested in the production and isolation of fusarochromene (FC - A and FC - B), in addition to other secondary metabolites from the fungal culture of Fusarium sacchari. Also, the aim deals with the investigation of the biosynthetic pathway of the target fusarochromene. This section describes the methods of production and isolation of fusaric acid, 9, 10- dehydro fusaric acid, fusaric acid methyl ester, and fusarochromene (FC - A, FC - B). It also includes the biosynthetic pathway of FC - A via labelling studies. This section involves the in vitro anticancer screening of fusaric acid, 9, 10- dehydrofusaric acid, fusaric acid methyl ester, FC - A and FC - B against different human cancer cell lines. A molecular docking study was performed for the target compounds - FC - A and FC - B on Bcl - 2 protein
