Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Organic Chemistry Summary: This work has been carried out to help in proper use of rice straw to reduce the adverse impact on the environment, health and economic aspects produced from its open air burning by farmers. Organic oxygenated constituent namely; cellulose, Phenolics, Lignin and Hemicelluloses were extracted according to the Egyptian patent (Galal et al., 224/2008), they are subjected to the suitable chemical modification to produce new compounds or composites with anticipated biological activity and /or industrial applications
