Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacognosy Summary: Botanical profiling of chrysanthemum pacificum nakai different organs was conducted. Proximate analysis and phytochemical screening were also done. The phytochemical composition of C. pacificum organs viz.; flowers, aerial parts and roots was revealed by using UHPLC - PDA - ESI - qTOF - MS. Following the identification strategy, 47 chromatographic peaks were detected belonging to different metabolite classes including hydroxycinnamic acid conjugates, flavonoids and fatty acids. The flowers contain mainly luteolin conjugates and 1,5 - di - O - caffeoylquinic acid, whereas the aerial parts has the largest content of quercetin flavonol derivatives and methoxylated flavones. While, the roots ranked the lowest for all flavones, and contained mainly quercetin and isorhamnetin flavonols, which contributed the most to its discrimination from the aerial parts and flowers. Evaluation of the hepatoprotective activity of the organs revealed that the ethanolic extract of the flowers demonstrated the highest potency regarding SOD and GSH, AST AND ALT enzymes at all concentration level
