Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Nuclear Medicine Summary: This study included thirty patients (21 males and 9 females) with the median age of 57 years ± 8.8 SD who were newly diagnosed with NSCLC. It is a retrospective study which analyzed images of patients with advanced NSCLC who were referred to our center for whole body 18F - FDG PET / CT as a baseline staging method before therapy and later referred again for follow-up to monitor response to the therapy taken For each patient, maximum, mean and peak SUVs (SUV max, SUV mean, SUV peak) and the metabolic tumor volume (MTV) of the primary tumor were determined at baseline. After delineation of the primary tumor, its total lesion glycolysis was calculated using the following formula: TLG - SUVmean x MTV. Two weeks after the end of treatment, the metabolic response of the primary tumor was evaluated using the EORTC response criteria
