Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Ophthalmology Summary: Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of intravitreal infliximab, an anti-tumor necrosis factor antibody, in 20 eyes of 20 patients with refractory posterior uveitis in Behçet's disease. Methods: Three consecutive intravitreal injections of infliximab (1 mg/0.05 mL) 6 weeks apart were given to 20 patients with refractory posterior uveitis in Behçet{u2019}s disease. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), vitritis (graded 0 to 4) and posterior segment active vasculitis, active retinitis and papillopathy (presence or absence) were assessed at baseline, day 1 and 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 18 weeks post first injection. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Electroretinogram (ERG) were done at baseline and 4, 12, and 18 weeks. Fluorescein Angiography (FA) was done at baseline and at the discretion of the examiner, not at every post-injection evaluation
