The objective of this research is to assess the impacts of the GERD on HAD by using stochastically generated data based on the historical time series The GERD-HAD SIM (WREM, 2013) hydrologic simulation model, used to investigate the downstream impacts of GERD. The study Concluded that GERD drastically alter the historical Nile flow regime the large capacity of GERD reduce the ability of the High Aswan Dam as a long-term storage reservoir as indicated by the increase in water deficit quantity and frequency. The new proposed filling rules reduce the negative impacts of GERD but even under these rules the impact on HAD still unacceptable. The Border dam can generate approximately 70% of energy generated by GERD (about 5 times the storage capacity of Border dam), which indicates that the dam size of GERD is not optimized
