Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Design and Production Summary: Investigations of the reverse osmosis plants from a point of corrosion are essential. In this study we will discuss the factors affecting the corrosion of welded Austenitic SS alloys. We started the experimental work by testing a welded stainless steel 904 L specimens using tension and bending tests. Potentiodynamic polarization test was used. Then an investigation under a metallurgical microscope is done. XRD test was used to obtain the phases of each alloy. Results show that SS 316L is more susceptible to corrosion than SS 904 L. We made a comparison due to the price and corrosion rate
