Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is mainly mediated by disruptions of prooxidant/antioxidant as well as inflammatory status. This study aimed to test the potential anti - MetS effects of pioglitazone (PIO), methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM), geraniol (GO), as well as the combination of MSM or GO with PIO low dose. Rats were divided into 8 groups; the control group, the MetS group, and two groups received PIO (5 and 10 mg/Kg), MSM group (400 mg/Kg), GO group (250 mg / Kg), and two groups were given PIO low dose combined with MSM and GO. All drugs were given orally for four weeks after 16 weeks administration of (10%) fructose solution to induce MetS. Administration of the aforementioned treatments showed an improvement in most of MetS criteria. These were signified by reduction in liver, visceral, and epididymal fat indices as well as body weight
