Objectives: We evaluate the use of frozen section in the detection of malignancy in thyroid surgery. Materials and methods: Our study is prospective cohort includes 30 patients (26 females and 4 males) who were selected from those whom presented to the department of general surgery at Kasr El Ainy university hospital during the period between July 2014 and January 2015 with either a solitary, dominant, or multinodular goitre. All patients will undergo frozen section examination. According to the result of frozen section examination either the thyroidectomy will be satisfactory or completion thyroidectomy will be needed. Comparison between frozen section examination and final paraffin section results will be recorded and studied
