Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Agricultural Biochemistry Summary: The objective of the present work: Effectiveness of probiotic potency on male adolescents and the effectiveness of apricots, pomegranate juice or sobya on improving the plasma levels of lipid profile parameters and total plasma homocysteine (tHcy) among healthy adults. Comparison of colonic microbiota by culture method and qPCR Identification of microbial community for Sobya. Results: Beneficial bacteria counts increased significantly after fermented supplements, or probiotics or synbiotics and prebiotics but pathogenic bacteria counts and pH were decreased for male adolescents or healthy adults .Consuming for sobya and pomegranate juice had a synergistic beneficially added value on lipid profile parameters. the mixture of sobya and pomegranate juice are potential natural agents in lowering the plasma levels of lipid profile and tHcy and immunoglobulin A among healthy adults. Identification with q-PCR better than classical methods for identification colonic microbiota, Fermented sobya had an influence on modulating the profile of microbiota which contains yeast and Lactobacilli was associated with lowering of pH values and significant increases in SCFA
