Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electrical Power and Machines Summary: This research presents a simple and accurate mathematical planning model for maximization of the power loss reduction at peak load using DG units. The mathematical model determines the optimum sizes and sites of DG units to be installed. The presented model considered three types of DG units regarding reactive power generation. Also, the model can determine the best number of DG units to be installed after which reduction in power loss at peak load is in considerable. he model has been tested any 33 IEEE bus system and assuming constant load power as well as load models
