Nowadays, many countries are developing policies and measures to promote zero or low carbon buildings with the aim to reduce the carbon emissions. This research investigates low and zero carbon building and its principals and the methods of achieving zero carbon homes focusing on improving fabric energy efficiency by improving (thermal transmittance, airtightness and thermal bridging)in the building envelope. This study aims to achieving highly energy efficient homes that reduce buildings impact on the global warming
