Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Anatomy Summary: This study was designed to measure different diameters of the head and neck of femur, also to evaluate the average femoral neck anteversion angle in the young Egyptians and the effect of age on it. Two hundred plain x-ray pelvis anteroposterior views from both sexes have been studied to measure the head and neck diameters and fifty CT scans were used to measure the femoral neck anteversion in young children aged from 6-11 years they were from both sexes. Males have higher values than females in all studied diameters and there were strong positive correlations between the different diameters on both sides of both sexes. Regarding to femoral neck, all children showed anteversion. Statistical analysis revealed significant greater average anteversion in left side than right side. The linear regression analysis was done and showed significant negative linear effect of the age on the anteversion angle.
