The most common isolated bacteria were Streptococcus pneumoniae (43.3%) followed by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) (10%), Haemophylous influenzae (6.7%) then Moraxella catarrhais and Acinetobacter spp. (3.3%) each one. The most effective antibiotic against the isolates as tested by disc diffusion method was quinolons. High resistance was reported to Penicillin and Erythromycin. A statistically significant relation was found between culture results and O2 desaturation ,leucocytosis , phyical character of sputum and direct smear examination, also there was a statistically significant relation between O2 desaturation and Streptococcus pneumoniae ,also there was a statistically significant direct correlation between culture result and leucocytosis while statistically significant inverse correlation between culture result and haematocrit value
