Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Institute of African Research and Studies - Department of Natural Resources
In Egypt, the River Nile play an important role in the live of Egyptian and is exposed to many types of pollutants which affect the water quality of the Nile water and thus changes the aquatic environment so in the present investigation, the effect of different pollutants such as industrial, agricultural, domestic and sewages on the water quality of the river nile on has been studied, For that purposes water samples were collected from four sites (Giza, manyal, Imbaba and kanater) representing the whole Cairo sector of the river nile during the four seasons(winter, spring, summer and autumn) during 2011 - 2012. The physio - chemical properties of the river nile water showed the following results: Water temperature values at different sites showed logical seasonal fluctuation with significant seasonal differences among the study period for all sites, but pH values of the studied water samples showed significant seasonal differences among the study period except during spring season. The highest value and the highest seasonal mean were recorded during winter season for DO and during autumn and winter seasons for EC and TDS, the highest annual mean were recorded at Giza for DO and at Giza and Manyal with respect to EC and TDS
