Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communications
In this thesis, we address the problem of allocating the resources for a cog- nitive radio network while reducing the delay and overhead which increase rapidly with the increase of the secondary users. The distributed allocation of the resources provides a signi{uFB01}cant solution for this problem. In particular, we propose a distributed resource allocation scheme for underlay multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cognitive radio networks. The proposed algorithm is proved to be able to allocate the resources ef{uFB01}ciently while reducing the delay and overhead and maximizing the throughput. Also, we provide different antenna selection techniques to reduce the complexity and cost. Moreover, we provide two versions of the algorithm to work with systems of homoge- neous or heterogeneous users. The ef{uFB01}ciency of the proposed algorithm is investigated analytically and through carrying out intensive simulations on both link and system levels
