Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine- Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: This clinical study was designed to evaluate the feasibility of specifically designed vacuum splint with self-cure acrylic pivot of 3 mm height at molar areas in management of favorable pediatric mandibular condylar fractures. Nine patients; 7 males and 2 females with either unilateral or bilateral condylar fractures confirmed with clinical and radiographic assessments, were treated via using the specially designed pivot splint under conscious sedation, between September 2012 and October 2013. . The clinical assessment based on the records of the MMO and the lateral excursions throughout the four weeks of the splint application inside the child mouth. Radiographic healing with good reduction and contouring of the fractured segments was occurred in approximately (67%), and that was coincide with the clinical results for these cases , they show gradual increasing the mouth opening and lateral excursions while the others (33%) showing discrepancies during the follow-up visits and relapse of the midline shift after its correction
