The present study examines the effect of some new forms of blades that are more efficient than traditional blades. Both the analytical BEM, as well as the numerical CFD methods were used to study the performance of a model of a HAWT in order to compare with the results of the laboratory test. The comparison between theoretical and experimental results has shown that the numerical CFD method predicted power factor well in the all range of the tip speed ratio. The computational CFD model has been used to predict the performance of wind turbine equipped with swept blades. The effect of blade sweep, the starting point of blade sweep and direction of sweep on the performance of the wind turbine were studied. The results showed that the swept blades in the direction of flow have higher power factor at the design point compared with the original straight blades but with an increase in thrust coefficient. The study also addressed the impact of adding winglets at blade tip for both cases of straight and swept blades. It was found that the winglet did not achieve good results with swept blades
