Methodology: This is a case-control study which included 300 adolescents (14-24 years), 150 acne cases and 150 controls, collected from the Family Medicine and Dermatology outpatient clinics in Kasr Alainy Hospital from September 2014 till January 2015. A pre-designed pre-tested interviewing structured questionnaire is used, which consists of the following data: Socio-demographic characteristics, BDD Diagnostic Module, BDD-YBOCS questionnaire and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Results: the study included females (91.3%) and males (8.7%). Prevalence of BDD in the whole study group was (10.3%) with higher percentage among acne cases. Severity of BDD varied but (41.9%) among cases and controls positive for BDD suffered from mild severity. There was no significant correlation between degree of acne and severity of BDD among acne cases positive for BDD. Also it was revealed that acne cases had lower self esteem compared to controls free of acne according to score of RSES
