Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Chemical Engineering Summary: This study aims to produce and characterize the antimicrobial textile. Synthesis of silver nanoparticles was made the reduction of silver nitrate by sodium borohydride. Three concentrations of silver nanoparticles were used, 100, 200 and 300 PPM. UV - Vis spectroscopy test was made to assure the nanoparticles are silver nanoparticles depending on the wavelength, Also the particle size and zeta potential test were determined on the malvern zeta - sizer instrument, the results indicates that the nanoparticles are stable in the solution and its size was 16 - 26 nm. The second step in this study was to synthesis the silver nanocomposite by adding a polymer to the nanoparticles "ex situ method". The most suitable polymer was polyvinylprelidone PVP. The fourier transform Infra - red test "FTIR" was made to know the material structure after synthesis of nanocomposite. Three different fixation methods were used in this study exhaustion, and microwave and UV methods. The three methods were compared by the agar based zone of inhibition test. The best result was for the exhaustion method
