Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral Biology Summary: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of Nicorandil and Propolis on the histological structures and immunohistochemical localization of certain cytokines on the gingiva, bone of the alveolar process and PDL fibers of the rats. Forty adult male albino rats were used and divided in to 4 groups, 10 animals each. Heamatoxylin and Eosin stain for histological examination. Masson trichrome stain for collagen. Immunohistochemical localization of interleukin 1 beta and transforming growth factorbeta 2. In group I and III animals, showed weakly positive staining reaction in the epithelial cells of the gingiva, in the cells and fibers of the PDL and in the bone almost negative in group II animals. However an increase in the staining pattern was observed in group IV animals
