Alectryon, is a genus of trees in the family sapindaceae that occurs in the rainforests of Australia. In this study, GLC analysis revealed the presence of 9 sugars in cold water soluble polysaccharides (CWP) constituting 66.82%. The major identified sugars in CWP were galactose. GLC analysis of hot water soluble polysaccharides (HWP) revealed the identification of 9 sugars constituting 70.26%. The major sugar in HWP was rhamnose. GC / MS analysis of the volatile constituents of A. tomentosus allowed the identification of sixty five compounds representing 88% of the total composition. The major compounds was isobutyl benzene - 1, 2- dicarboxylate (37.39). Investigation of the phenolic constituents of the 80% methanol extract of A. tomentosus leaves by the chromatographic separation on polyamide column allowed identification of compound E 1: 4- hydroxy benzoic acid, E 2: Gallic acid. E 3: Luteolin, E 4: Myricetin, E 5: Luteolin - 7- O- Ý- rutinoside, E 6: Myricetin 3- O- Ý- glucoside, E 7: Myricetin 3- O- Ü- rhamnoside, E 8: Luteolin 7- O- Ý- glucoside, E 9: Velutin (3{u2019}, 7- dimethoxy luteolin). Saponification of the petroleum ether extract of A. tomentosus (5g) gave 2.2 g of unsaponifiable matter and 1.7 g of fatty acids. Twenty compounds were identified, representing 70.65% of the total unsaponifiable content
