Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy of Surgery Summary: Purpose: to determine the efficacy of monochromatic infrared energy versus low level laser therapy in the treatment of post burn tarsal tunnel syndrome. Methods of evaluation: (Measurement of the motor distal latencies of the medial and lateral plantar branches of the tibial nerve). Methods: 45 male and female patients with post burn tarsal tunnel syndrome were divided into three groups. Group (A) received the monochromatic infrared energy plus the traditional physical therapy, Group (B) received the low level laser therapy plus the traditional physical therapy and Group (B) received only the traditional physical therapy duration of treatment was 20 minutes, every other day for the 6 weeks as a total period of treatment. Results: Result showed that both the monochromatic infrared energy and low level laser therapy were effective and beneficial in decreasing the prolonged motor distal latencies of the medial and lateral branches of the posterior tibial nerve, but the monochromatic infrared energy was more fruitful than the low level laser therapy in enhancing the motor conduction velocities of the tibial nerve
