Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Andrology and S.T.Ds Summary: Sexual health is defined by the World Health Organization as the integration of somatic, emotional, intellectual, and social aspects in ways that are positively enriching and that will enhance personality, communication, and love. Female sexual function is changed in different periods during her life, it can be said that one of these periods is the postpartum period.The aim of this study is to assess the female sexual function during postpartum period in relation to mode of delivery.In our study we used the Arabic FSFI which is a validated, reliable, and locally accepted tool for use in the assessment of FSD in the Egyptian population . The groups of women in this study were not significantly different regarding socio-demographic aspects. This study was conducted on four hundred candidates of Married females, three hundred in their postpartum period and one hundred married non pregnant females still having no children as a control group. the three hundred females included one hundred delivered by normal vaginal delivery, one hundred delivered by vaginal andmediolateral episiotomy and one hundred delivered by elective caesarean section.
