The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of pulpotec and calcium hydroxide intracoronal dressing on interappointment pain relief for symptomatic posterior teeth with acute pulpitis with apical periodontitis. The trial design of this study is parallel randomized controlled trial. Randomized controlled trial (RCT) is clinical studies in which people are allocated at random to receive one of several clinical interventions. After careful clinical and radiographic examination and meeting the inclusion criteria, 44 patients were selected to participate in the trial, and were randomly allocated into two groups, calcium hydroxide group (Group A) and pulpotec group (Group B). All selected participants were treated with standardized pulpotomy procedure in the symptomatic tooth, which included surgical amputation of the coronal pulp while maintaining vital radicular pulp. Each tooth received an intracoronal dressing from one of the two materials according to group to which patient was allocated, followed by a zinc phosphate base. All teeth were restored with amalgum as final restoration
