Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Cardiopulmonany and Geriatrics Disorders Summary: Background: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has been rapidly rising worldwide. That is a metabolic disease with inappropriate hyperglycemia either due to deficiency of insulin secretion or reduction in the biologic effectiveness of insulin. Elevated inflammatory marker, have been observed in obese type 2 diabetes patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the response of C-reactive protein to aerobic versus resistive Exercises in type 2 Diabetic patients. Methods: Forty Patients (20men and 20 women) were recruited from out-patient clinic of physical therapy of Beni-Swief university hospital participated in the study and assigned randomly into two groups equally in number (Group (A) and Group (B)). Group (A) received aerobic exercise using treadmill and group (B) received resistive exercise using sandbags. The treatment program was conducted three times per week for 3 months from July 2014 to October 2014. The blood glucose and C - reactive protein levels were measured at the beginning of the treatment program and at the end of treatment program (after 3months). Results :The results of this study showed that there was significant improvement in blood glucose level in group (A ) and (B) as the percent of improvement in group (A) was 11.6% and in group (B) was 8.77% and there was significant improvement in c-reactive protein which was in group (A) 12.9%and in group (B)1.83% Conclusion: It was concluded that aerobic exercise and resistive exercise are effective in improvement of blood glucose level and c-reactive protein in type 2diabetic patients .but the aerobic exercise is more effective in improving the C-reactive protein
