Objective: was to assess neurological affection of babies admitted with different causes of convulsions and residual affection after treatment at 3 month follow up and to correlate the outcome with the different causes of convulsions, EEG findings and possible risk factors study design: Prospective study Setting: The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of of CUPH and Kasr El-Ainy Hospital. Participants: 104 neonates (of whom 30 died before follow up) during a period of 12 months (from December 2012 to November 2013). Patient and method: Data was collected regarding history taking, full clinical examination, laboratory investigations, imaging, developmental milestones were assessed at 3 months of age using Bayley{u2013}III. Results: H.I.E was the most common cause of convulsions, constituting 40.5% and intracranial heamorrhage was the second common cause constituting 22.9%). The outcome of the babies who had H.I.E was worse than those who had intracranial hemorrhage. Conclusion: H.I.E was the most common cause of convulsions,there was strong correlation between the EEG findings and the outcome of the infants
