Background:Psoriasis is a common chronic systemic inflammatory disease associated with abnormal lipid metabolism, andincreased prevalence of atherosclerosis. Ultraviolet (UV) phototherapy is a well-established therapeutic line for psoriasis. Oxidized LDL (ox-LDL) results from photo-induced oxidative stress. High sensitive C- reactive protein (hs-CRP) isa biomarker of cardiovascular (CVS) risk in addition to other imaging techniques. Objectives: To assess the effect of Psoralen and UV-A (PUVA) on cardiometabolic profile of patients with psoriasis with and without atherosclerosis. Methods:A comparative clinical trial was performed for 17 months, 91patients with chronic plaque psoriasis were examined. Fifty patients fulfilled the criteria for inclusion. Fifteen apparently normal individualswere included as controls.Twenty seven adult patients with psoriasis were put in one of the two arms of the study: with atherosclerosis (high risk) and without atherosclerosis (low risk). Duplex ultrasonography, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, arterial blood pressure (ABP),high sensitive C reactive protein (hs-CRP), oxidized LDL(ox-LDL), lipid profile and fasting blood sugar (FBS) were assessed before and after 36 sessions of PUVA. Data analysis in the comparative clinical trial included total group analysis and subgroup analysis. Correlations were performed
