This study Mean arterial blood pressure and heart rate significantly decreased in both groups after infusion of drugs, GDK was statistically lower in MAP compared to the GFK after intubation, extubation and at recovery time .No statistical significant difference in HR between groups throughout the procedure and the study has been conducted on 60 patients. The patients included in the study were divided into 2 equal groups (30 each); GDK: The patients received Dexmedetomidine 1mcg/Kg over 10 minutes followed by continuous infusion at a rate of 0.5 mcg/kg/hr. and GFK: The patients received Fentanyl 1mcg/kg followed by continuous infusion of 0.5 mcg/kg/hr. Anesthesia was induced by propofol 2 mg/kg iv and atracuronium at a dose of 0.5 mg /kg .Both groups received 30 mg IV Ketorolac 5 minutes after intubation.
