Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Organic Chemistry
The thesis comprises five chapters. The first one is an introduction which consists of a brief literature survey on the different methods for the synthesis of pyrimidine derivatives, in addition to their biological activities. The second chapter involves the research objectives and schemes of the new synthesized target compounds. The third chapter deals with the theoretical discussion of the experimental work and the spectral data. The fourth chapter explains the experimental part which consists of the detailed procedures used for the synthesis of certain thioxopyrimidine carbonitril, chlorothiopyrimidine, thiopyrimidoquinazoline, imidazo- pyrimidine, tetrazolopyrimidine, hydrazinopyrimidine derivatives and their intermediates in addition to the physical properties, elemental and spectral data. The fifth chapter contains the in-vitro anticancer investigation of most of the novel target compounds. Finally, the structures activity correlation and conclusion of the results. The structures of the new compounds were substantiated by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, as well as mass spectral data
