Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Summary: The plan of the work involves the analysis of some drugs related to beta phenylethylamine structure as adrenergic agonists e.g. phenylephrine and some antidepressants e.g. clomipramine, venlafaxine and desvenlafaxine in their pure and dosage forms, also in mixtures marketed in combination with other drugs as phenylephrine and dimethindene maleate. Also, clomipramine was determined in the presence of one of its impurities e.g. clomipramine impurity C. The methods proposed are spectroscopic such as first derivative ratio spectrophotometry and ion pairing with eosin Y. Chromatographic methods involved reversed phase {u2013}high performance liquid chromatographic methods and thin layer chromatographic methods.Validation according to ICH guidelines and statistical comparison of the proposed methods with reference methods was included
