Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Dermatology and Venerology Summary: Objective: The present study was performed to assess the impact of male infertility on marital & sexual satisfaction of the Egyptian infertile couples. Method: After obtaining their consents, 40 infertile couples answered 2 questionnaires; index of marital satisfaction (IMS) questionnaire & sexual satisfaction scale (SSS) questionnaire. This was studied in relation to gender difference, duration of infertility & type of infertility. Results: The study showed that diagnosed of male infertility whether it was primary or secondary did not change in marital satisfaction for both husband and wife. Infertile males were satisfied in their marital and sexual life.The effects on the couples' sexual life were more pronounced in women whose husbands had secondary infertility. These wives were satisfied in their marital life and unsatisfied in their sexual life. Conclusion: Infertility is considered to be distressful life experience & affect marital & sexual life negatively particularly for women. Adequate attention to these patients psychologically is of such importance as physical attention
