Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This thesis is concerned with the analysis of three selected drugs containing imidazole ring namely, dabigatran etexilate, fenticonazole nitrate, and butoconazole nitrate. In this work, different analytical techniques were applied for stability indicating determination of dabigatran etexilate, in its pharmaceutical preparations using spectrophotometric methods, densitometric and liquid chromatographic method. LC-MSMS method was developed for determination of dabigatran etexilate and its active metabolites, dabigatran and dabigatran o-glucuronide in human plasma. Stability of fenticonazole nitrate was studied and stability indicating HPLC method was developed and applied for simultaneous determination of fenticonazole nitrate, methyl and propyl parabens in their laboratory prepared mixtures and in their pharmaceutical preparation. Accelerated stability study and pre-formulation studies were carried out on fenticonazole in cream dosage form. Stability of butoconazole nitrate was studied and stability indicating UPLC method was developed and applied for simultaneous determination of butonazole nitrate, methyl and propyl parabens in their laboratory prepared mixtures and in their pharmaceutical preparation. LC-MSMS method was developed and validated for sensitive determination of butoconazole in human plasma
