Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Anesthesia Summary: The femoral artery and vein are commonly used access for diagnostic and therapeutic purpose in pediatric catheter lab. Ultrasonography is considered the gold standard for vascular access placement. There are many factors that affect the rate of success when attempting central femoral venous cannulation as depth of femoral vein and diameter of femoral vein and the degree overlapped by the artery , all are factors which should be taken in consideration when attempting femoral vein cannulation. Our current study showed no significant difference regarding vessels overlap and rate of complications between frog like position with 60{u02DA} abduction without pillow beneath the inguinal region and frog like position with 60{u02DA} abduction with pillow beneath the inguinal region.
