Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Economics and Political Science - Department of Political Science Summary: Due to the geographical and historical factors the migration from MENA to Europe represents a growing phenomenon, especially, after the Arab revolutions. Despite the cultural, economic, religious, and social challenges that faced the Arab immigrants with the spread of racism that grew recently in Europe towards the Arabs. Since the outbreak of the revolutions in some Arab countries, many people prefer to migrate from their countries to Europe fleeing the ravages of the civil war, the poor economic conditions and lack of security and political stability. This thesis discusses the various effects of the Arab revolutions on the phenomenon of migration in the Mediterranean countries: Firstly, by discussing the reasons, types and rates of this phenomenon in these countries before and after the revolutions. Secondly, by studying the change in the destination countries from the European countries to the Arab countries and the role of return migrations in these revolutions. Thirdly, by reviewing the migration policies taken by the EU to curb migration into the EU before and after the Arab revolutions. Finally, by mentioning the different responses of the European countries towards the Arab revolutions and how the special interests of each European country determined its position toward each revolution
