Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Summary: Cesarean section rate has been rising continuously over the last few decades. This rise has become a challenge to the obstetricians all over the world as many obstetric complications are getting more and more common due to increased percentage of obstetric population with previous Cesarean sections including uterine rupture and abnormal placentation. The risk of uterine scar dehiscence and uterine rupture is inversely related to the thickness of scar of previous section as measured by ultrasound. Transvaginal ultrasound measurement of scar thickness seems to be the most reliable method for prediction of scar dehiscence and uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies
