ملاحظة الأطروحة: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation ملخص: Twenty two BD patients (90.9% males, mean age 36.91± 10.63 years and mean disease duration 10.82±11.27 years) without any vascular disease. All BD patients were diagnosed according to ISG criteria. Behcet Disease Current Activity Form BDCAF and Severity score of the Behçet{u2019}s disease were performed on all BD patients. Also, twenty two healthy controls, age and sex matched, were enrolled in this study. Patients and controls were subjected to venous Doppler ultrasonography for both upper and lower limbs and CEAP( clinical, etiology, anatomical, pathophysiology) score for venous insufficiency assessment. Results: No venous thrombosis or thrombophelbitis were detected in patients or controls. Three BD patient (13.6%) and one control (4.5%) revealed venous insufficiency (venous reflux > 1 second) in the lower extremities, with no significant statistical difference towards all veins of both upper and lower limbs between patients and controls as regards compressibility, wall thickness, venous sufficiency, and competency of perforator veins.Behçet{u2019}s disease current activity form BDCAF ranged from 1-8 with a mean of 2.15±0.19. There were significant associations between BDCAF activity score and some of the clinical manifestations (headache, joint arthalgia, nausea, and diarrhea). There was no significant association between BDCAF activity score and the other clinical manifestations.Behçet{u2019}s disease severity score revealed mild in 7 patients (31.8%), moderate in 7 patients (31.8%), and severe in 8 patients (36.4%). There were significant associations between severity score and some of the clinical manifestations (mouth ulcer and eye involvement). There was no significant association of severity score with the other clinical manifestations. Conclusion: Venous insufficiency was, insignificantly, detected in BD patients. There were significant associations between BDCAF Behçet{u2019}s disease activity score and headache, joint arthalgia, nausea, and diarrhea. Lastly, there were significant associations of Behçet{u2019}s disease severity score with mouth ulcer and eye involvement. Further similar studies with larger sample size of patients is recommended
