Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Inorganic Chemistry Summary: The present study is concerned with the preparation of yttria-stabilized zirconia having high charge mobility. Here in, we studied the doping of zirconia with different concentrations of Y₂O₃. The samples were prepared by a solid state reaction at 800{u02DA}C, 1000{u02DA}C, and 1200{u00B0}C for 2 hours. The morphology of the pellets was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Crystallinity and phase change were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Impurities were analyzed by X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). The electrical conductivity of the sintered pellets was measured and demonstrated that the conductivity increases as yttria content increases. It has been also found that the conductivity decreases with increasing the level of the impurities in the natural ore
