The present study was performed to compare the healing potential of curcumin versus a combination of ؤurcumin piperine in treating burn induced wound on the dorsal surface of the tongue in a rat animal model. 54 male albino rats of average weight of 150-200g were used in this study and equally divided to three groups: Control, curcumin and curcumin and piperine group. 6 rats from each group were sacrificed at 3,7and 14 days after wound induction. The obtained sections were studied both histologically,immunohistochemically and histomorphometric analysis were performed and interpreted statistically. The control group showed the slowest rate of wound healing followed by the curcumin group while the curcumin-piperine group showed the fastest rate of healing as the wound surface appeared to be completely covered by a keratinized stratified squamous epithelium at 7 and 14 days. CD31 immunostaining was increased in the experimental groups more than the control group. They reached its peak at 7 days especially in the curcumin piperine group with clear, well demarcated endothelial wall. The statistical interpretation of the histomorphometric analysis showed that curcumin-piperine group recorded the highest mean value in the different treatment periods.
