Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Department of Anatomy and Embryology
This work aimed to develop anatomical alternatives to facilitate and improve the quality of teaching and learning of the surface anatomy of equine head and neck. It was conducted on twenty-three animals (18 horses and 5 donkeys), ethically sourced, to develop educational alternatives. Alternatives are used to replace animal cadavers or decrease the number os animals used in teaching and learning to give similar or efficient educational results. Those include models made from plastic or plastinated or preserved with Elnady Technique, in addition to computer simulation and interactive multimedia software. In this work, the alternatives were presented in the form of specimens preserved with 2Elnady technique3 and a computer program that is enriched with multimedia assets collected through the work including images and video clips obtained from fresh, embalmed cadavers and live horses, in addition to self-evaluation questions. In the future, this work could be performed on other parts of the equine body and in other species of domestic animals
