Lucilia sericata larvae (Diptera: Calliphoridae) are facultative ectoparasite infesting suppurative wounds as a primary agent of cutaneous myiasis of sheep. It is important to find safe alternative measures for controlling of this blowfly. Two medicinal plant extracts (Commiphora molmol and Balanites aegyptiaca) were applied for the three larva stages of Lucilia sericata. The calculated LC50 values of Commiphora molmol were 6.03, 7.96 and 6.55 mg/ml for 1st, 2nd and 3rd instar larvae respectively. The LC50 values of Balanites aegyptiaca were 142.27, 216.05 and 371.15 mg/ml for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd instar larvae respectively. The most effective concentration for Commiphora molmol was 32 mg/ml and for Balanites aegyptiaca was128 mg/ml. Morphological abnormalities were noticed for the two applied extracts. Malformations of larvae included small sized, contractile, and damaged larvae with weak cuticle. Abnormalities of pupa included small sized, distorted, larviform pupa and incomplete emergency of adult. Abnormalities of adults included small sized, malformed, poorly developed and deformed wing and legs. Histopathological changes and scanning electron microscope (SEM) for the control and treated 3rd instar larvae were studied. The immunological study aimed to select an antigen of Lucilia sericata larvae with both high antigenicity and cross reactivity with other related antigens of Lucilia sericata larvae in order to obtain a promising candidate vaccine antigen. Results of ELISA showed that midgut antigen of 2nd larva instar (MGL2) might be considered as candidate vaccine antigen. The results were extended to identify immunorective bands of MGL2 using EITB technique. A polypeptide band of 63KDa showed strong reaction with all tested rabbit hyper-immune sera. This band might be considered to be the main cause of cross reactive binding ability of MGL2 antigen with other Lucilia sericata larva antigens
